2 week update

Well, Micah is now 2 weeks old, and he's had a lot to overcome in his short life. Last Friday he was diagnosed with a double ear infection, so he's been on an anitbiotic and tylenol. He hasn't been near as fussy as I would be with a double ear infection, so he's definitely a trooper. We've also been having trouble breastfeeding, so my doctor recommended a lactation consultat. She was able to come on Monday to evaluate Micah and a feeding session. It turns out that Micah has a condition called tongue-tie which makes it difficult for him to nurse. So, we're going to the pediatrician tomorrow to see if she will recommend an ENT to get this problem corrected. It's a painless, in-office procedure that won't hurt him a bit. It will allow him to nurse, as well as correct any speech problems he could have in the future.

On a lighter note, he's growing so fast. On Monday he was back up to his birth weight on the lacation nurse's scales. Hopefully tomorrow at his 2 week appointment that will still be true. He's eating very well (he's a little piggy) with the help of a gadget the nurse gave us. And last night he only awoke twice to eat!!! I was so excited! Maybe he's finally getting his days and nights straight. Well, that's all for now.
