8 lbs and counting!

Today we had our wonderful lacation consultant come for a follow-up visit. She is absolutely wonderful! The first thing she did was weigh him...and we have a 8 lb, 1 oz baby on our hands! I can't believe he's growing so fast! Micah is amazing me every day. He's holding up his head a good bit, focusing on our faces, voices, sounds, and his environment more....and even sleeping better at night. For the past 4 nights he's been going to bed around midnight and waking at 4 am for a feeding and then going right back to bed until 7 AM. This Momma is a new woman, let me tell you!
As far as nursing goes...not going so well. We have had a few successful attempts but nothing consistent yet, but this (according to the LC) is normal and should be expected. Denise was completely thrilled about his progress. His tongue is doing what it should be now, but still we need some serious relearning before he gets nursing down to a science. He just gets so worked up that he can't nurse, and it's rather stressful for me and Micah.
Micah did have his first outing to a movie this week and he did great! Mommy was the nervous one...I was so afraid that he was going to make a fuss that I didn't pay much attention to the movie. He did have a messy diaper during the movie so I took him, a diaper, and wipes with me to the restroom....but don't you know that as soon as I changed his diaper--I had not even finished snapping his top) when he did his business again. The lesson I learned--take the entire diaper bag next time! However, other than that, he did just great! That's all for now!
